KLR Studios is very excited to be hosting it's second annual Summer Intensives this year. Anyone and Everyone is invited to come! Classes in Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Hip-Hop will be available for Intermediate, and Advanced dancers. This is also a chance for students interested in being on our Killer Competition Crew to get a leg up (pun intended) on the competition and get a chance to be in exclusive dances choreographed by guest artists. For the Intermediate and Advanced dancers participating in both styles offered, they will be taking anywhere from 18-20 classes during the week depending on the length of the class (1 hr or 1.5 hour class). The cost of each intensive is $400/week. This comes out to $20 a master class. If a dancer only wants to participate in one dance form for the week, for example just Tap, or just Ballet , the cost is $250. For the Beginner/Pre-Intermediate dancers, both weeks will be the same as far as what is offered and the structure of the week. Each week there will be 2.5 hours of classes per night touching base on Tap, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and Dance Technique. No student has to participate in all the classes if they do not want to. The cost for the intensive is $265 for all three classes, $200 for 2 classes, and $150 for just 1 class. For families with more than one child attending the intensive, there will be a 10% discount for each additional child. There will be a pre-registration discount of 10% also available for anyone registered and paid in full by July 1st. Guest Teachers for KLR Hip-Hop & Tap Intensive August 4th - August 8th from 5-9 pm
Jimmie Manners was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Maryland. His first ballet class was at the age of three and from then on dance was his life. Attending Thomas G. Pullen Performing Arts school from K-8th grade, Baltimore School for the Arts high school and University of the Arts on full scholarship, Jimmie studied ballet, modern, jazz, tap and African dance. After two years at University of the Arts, he moved to New York City and was invited to be a member of Rhapsody the Company (a hip-hop based performance company). He was coached in the authentic hip-hop style of dance. After being signed to the Bloc performance agency, Jimmie has performed with many recording artists such as Eve, Ciara, Joe and Kat Deluna, and has been featured in commercials and motion films including the Winter ‘09’ GAP campaign and Step Up 2. Jimmie also teaches and choreographs every chance he gets with projects including a national workshop tour in 2008 -2009 where he taught students in Paris, Italy and Barcelona among other countries and cities. Jimmie continues to have a fulfilling career as a professional dancer, enjoys teaching and encouraging aspiring dancers and lives to perform on the stage!
Zoey Cruz - Hip Hop
Zoey Cruz began his dance career in 2004. He started at a local dance studio in Los Angeles where he spent countless hours in freestyle and hip hop classes. In 2005, he relocated to Washington DC and became a scholarship dancer with Culture Shock DC. Zoey then moved to Las Vegas a few years later to further his dance with Culture Shock Las Vegas as a dancer and choreographer. Through that experience, Zoey has had the privilege of working and sharing the stage with other mainstream dance companies and some A-list choreographers like Jesse Lee Santos, Jerry Slaughter and NappyTabs who’s credits range from Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Usher, Pink, Janet Jackson, America’s Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Can Dance. In 2008, He moved back to Los Angeles as a professional choreographer and dancer. He has worked nationally and internationally visiting several cities as a guest choreographer as well as assisting other dancers and dance troupes. He is also a staff member and client with JLS Ent, a management company representing several commercial, industrial and mainstream artists. Zoey has also taught workshops with dancers from shows such as So You Think You Dance and America’s Best Dance Crew. He has also been a featured choreographer/dancer for one of Philippines top TV networks GMA. In 2010 he had the opportunity to hit the scene as an internationally traveling to the Philippines for a workshop tour. He has Judged and featured choreography for the internationally known World Of Dance showcase/competition Tour NYC 2011. In 2010 Zoey started his own production and management company Cruz Productions/F1RST SELECT providing entertainment, exposure and inspiration to the dance community. Fall of 2011, Zoey was the featured guest choreographer for the Maryland Council Of Dance “State DanceFest” 2011. At the current year, Zoey is now part of a workshop movement called #LIDF (Live Inspired Die Fulfilled) under the STARFlEET brand of dancers/choreographers. Headed by JP Goldstein from Mos Wanted Crew, along with several other amazing industry, commercial and upcoming choreographers. . In Fall of 2012, Zoey was blessed to be part of one of Rhode Island’s biggest Hip Hop event “Beast Coast” presented by ASM Dance co. He has also taught at several prestiges colleges such as George Town, Wagner College and Brown University. Zoey is also an official World Of Dance network YouTube partner as a choreographer. With his past, current and future endeavors, Zoey hopes to grow as a dancer, choreographer, manager and entrepreneur.
Christina Lindenmuth - Hip Hop
Christina has been teaching and choreographing for over 11 years. She started with school musicals and show choir pieces, and quickly moved on to large scale productions. She has showcased her choreography locally with several organizations, including The UndaGround Dance League, PWC Kids, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, the Potomac Nationals, and the New Dominion Choraliers. She has also made appearances throughout Germany and China with her dance crew, Spaghetti Junction. Her choreography has won several awards, and has headlined fashion shows and hair shows in Virginia and DC. She specializes in turning familiar stories into hip hop productions, such as the Wizard of Oz, The Matrix, and Peter Pan.
Robin Passmore - Tap
Robin Passmore has devoted her life to the art of tap dancing. Starting out as a competition dancer, her love for performing led her to New York City where she currently lives and studies. She is the dance captain of Chloe Arnold's Apartment 33. She is also proud to be a cast member of Jared Grimes' Broadway Underground and she has appeared in Sesame Street segments. Robin travels the East Coast teaching master classes and choreographing.
Mark Orsborn - Tap
Mark Orsborn is a tapper, choreographer and master teacher. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Mark began his dance career at the age of five. After receiving numerous accolades and national recognition, Mark left competitive dance to begin focusing on his performing career. He took classes with tap legends such as Henry Letang and Maurice Hines and studied privately with Joseph Webb. He was invited to perform as a soloist with the Tap America Project(TAP) and was featured in such events as the Kennedy Center 25th Anniversary and Smithsonian 150th Anniversary. Mark then joined Knock on Wood to become a member of the tap group, Tappers With Attitude (TWA). During his time with TWA, Mark had the opportunity to perform on a regular basis on stages and theaters up and down the east coast. Shortly thereafter, Mark was cast in the Debbie Allen production of Brothers of the Knight and performed two successful runs of the show at the Kennedy Center. At the age of 16, Mark began assisting Laurie Johnson on the Tremaine Dance Convention circuit. He parlayed that experience and extensive training to begin teaching and choreographing. Mark quickly built a following and became an in-demand choreographer and master tap teacher. For years Mark has choreographed and taught for numerous dance studios and companies. His choreography was featured at the 2011 University of Maryland Choreographers Gala and has been nominated and recognized on a recurring basis throughout the country. Mark currently teaches at different studios, conventions and festivals such as Starpower Power Pak and the D.C. Tap Festival. He also has had the opportunity to co-teach with Laurie Johnson at Tremaine Dance Conventions. Recently, Mark started his own company, The JaM Project, to help spread the love of tap dancing through tap education.

Megan Carter - Contemporary
Megan Carter is from Leesburg, Va. She attended Montgomery College in Rockville, MD as a Dance Major. Megan has appeared on “So You Think You Can Dance” season 7. Megan was voted the Best Over All Female dancer for SYTYCD New York and Miami Auditions. Megan was chosen to dance at a Chorographer showcase called “ Phases of Love” in Atlanta, GA and was ask to choreograph a video for an artist Produced by Chip Days. Megan teaches at her home Studio and and choreographs for other events and studios in the Northern Virginia areas. Her choreography has won many awards and top scores. She has received top scoring routine awards, title winners, and outstanding choreography awards with her choreography. Megan has performed in opening numbers at the Coffee House Productions, Disney World, show case performance in Branson Missouri, San Antonio Texas, Myrtle Beach, Las Vegas, New Orleans, LA and performed on the Royal Caribbean Cruise line. She was one of the Dance Spirit Magazine’s future Star scholarship recipients. Megan has also performed with the Manhattan Performing Arts Collective International Dance Festival in New York and Broadway at Tropea in Italy in the advance professional level performances directed by Michele Assaf, Terry Beeman, Bruno Collinet, & Jessica Hendricks . Megan has worked with and been assistant teacher to AC Ciulla at the “Pulse” & New York City Dance Alliance, Mia Michaels “New York Dance Alliance”, JC Renzetti and Robert Moses at “Dance Power Express” Pamela Bolling in Orlando Floridia, Travis Wall, Frank Hatchett, Sheila Barker, Ray Leaper, Lisa Allain and the Late Gus Giordano in many workshops as assistant teacher. Megan continues to perform with different companies throughout the year.
Anastasia Kim - Contemporary/Ballet/Nutrition
Anastasia Kim is a Philanthropist, Choreographer, Dancer, Teacher, and President of AK's Transcendental Enterprises LLC Jewelry Company. Anastasia has over 25 years of dance experience. She attended Kirov Academy, The Rock School of Ballet, and is a graduate of The College of William and Mary where she was the Vice President of the dance group Pointe Blank. Her passion for dance and the arts has propelled her to become a full time Philanthropist and is currently working on: The One I Feed: An Evening of Dance Benefiting the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center on Saturday, September 14th, 2013 at Potomac Falls High School. Lee Raney will be a guest artist at the event!
Nicholas Brock - Contemporary
Nicholas Brock is a native of Gainesville, Virginia. He began his dance training at the age of four under the supervision of Pat Hawkes and Gloria Hampton. Nicholas has been dancing competitively since he was four years old. He studied in several different genres of dance; including ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, and extensively in tap. He attended Battlefield High School located in Haymarket, VA while at the same time studying dance at Degrasse Dance Studio and Creative Dance Centre. Nicholas is currently working on duel degrees at Shenandoah University. Nicholas received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in May 2014. Nicholas has also choreographed several award winning groups, duets, and solo pieces for dance studios around the United States. He has worked with many highly acclaimed artists, including Kevin “Tokyo” Inouye, Travis Wall, Tine Cyphert, Maurice Fraga, Elijah Gibson, Jason Parsons and Mollee Gray. He has been a guest artist for local companies including Ekilibre Dance Company, and Flying Lions Dance Company under the direction of choreographers Maurice Fraga and Ting Yu Chen. Nicholas has been teaching dance since the age of 15 and hopes to pursue a career in dance after he has completed his studies in college. Nicholas plans to return to school for his Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy, and hopefully setting course to complete his Doctorate as well.
